Reserva Paisajistica Nor Yauyos Cochas

Activities to do in Yauyos

Trekkings

There are various and diverse routes to hike into the North Yauyos Cochas Landscape Reserve, each trail with its own characteristics, duration and levels of difficulty and intensity. All of them feature beautiful and varied sights. These trails are derivatives of the great Inca trail or Capac Nan, as such, some parts of the trails are in good shape, while others show the passage of time. Hiking through these gives our visitors a glimpse into our past and helps us preserve our history. Tourism in the area is a great source of income for the locals and helps to maintain the trails in good shape.

Visits to the communities and towns in the reserve

Visiting the different towns and communities gives you a clear picture of the Andean lifestyle, in the deepest reaches of Peru, while vivential tourism allows you to empathize and get in touch with a different reality.

Visits to natural landscape areas

It is comforting to visit and  raise awareness of the treasured areas in the Reserve. We bid you to help us with their preservation, the protection of our patrimony, and to keep it pollution-free.

Visits to archaeological sites

The Yauyos Culture left behind a lot of remains that serve as a display of their greatness, The Fortress of Huamanmarca and Sinchimarca are some of the sights that show the arquitectonic skills of our ancestors. Some trails might be demanding due to the high altitude but the sights reward your effort.

Biking

A little bit of exercise is always welcome, therefore we have some tours that are completed with a return by bike. An instance for the extreme adventurers, is the ride down from Huancaya to Yauyos Lodge, it is very exciting and does not require a lot of physical effort, because all of the trails are down hill.

Sports Fishing

For fishing lovers, hereby’s a haven for fishing trout, both  traditional and fly fishing. We have guides that will take you to some of the most incredible lagoons ever imagined, to enjoy the thrill of fishing and relax along the way.

Stand Up Paddle

Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is the fastest growing sport in the world. It consists of paddling standing on a surfboard and is ideal for those who enjoy nature and contact with the lagoons.
